Low Cholesterol DietCholesterol is one of the most main factors for heart disease. It has been observed that one among each 5 person in this world has high cholesterol problem. If anyone has high cholesterol it leads to the heart diseases. Therefore it is better to lead a healthy life. We must follow low cholesterol diet which can be ultimately considered as balanced diet. Diet alone will reduce fat contents in the blood. If you wish to reduce cholesterol from the body, then we need to go low cholesterol diet. Need for Guidance: Diets are to be done under proper guidance. Every person will have their own individual life style, medical background, dietary patterns. It is suggested to follow diet after consulting a registered dietician. Many don’t consult the doctor and plan their own diet. It may sometimes lead to obesity, overweight and underweight. The conditions can raise the lipid levels and hence leads to heart disease. Suggested foods: Foods rich in proteins such as lentils, beans and oatmeal reduce the blood cholesterol. The above said foods should be taken as often as possible. Instead of taking white flour, we could take whole grain which won’t increase the carbohydrates content of the body. It has been found recently that high amount of carbohydrates can also cause heart diseases. Another variety of fats called as polyunsaturated fats which are found as substitute for saturated fats which are edible for heart patients and commonly suggested by physicians. They are found in safflower, corn, soybean, cottonseed, sesame, sunflower oils and homely salad dressings. Olive and canola oil called as rapeseed oil are some of the examples of oils that are rich in monounsaturated fats. They can be used as substitute for vegetable oils for cooking and salad preparation. Scientists found that these two unsaturated fats reduces the blood cholesterol levels. Fatty foods are the items to be avoided in order to maintain normal lipid level, so that we can get rid of heart diseases. To reduce blood cholesterol level; it’s better to avoid saturated fat. Animal products such as butter, cheese, whole milk, ice cream and meat are the major source of saturated fat. Another variety of saturated fat is hydrogenated fat commonly known as trans-fats. Cheap vegetable oils will have hydrogen added to them by a process called hydrogenation and when it gets heated it becomes rancid which is worse for heart. Vegetable oils like coconut oil, cocoa butter, palm oil also contain saturated fats. If we have balanced diet, we are free from cholesterol. Follow the diet your physician directs you and maintain it.
